Meet the Assistant Principal
Dr. Jody Worth
Dr. Jody Worth, Greene County Primary School’s new assistant principal, says she is excited to rejoin the Tiger Family and is looking forward to working alongside the GCPS staff this school year to provide an atmosphere that is most conducive to students’ success and growth. “My leadership philosophy is to never settle for anything less than the best; to continue to look for ways to improve and challenge and have an answer for why "we" as an educational institution do what we do,” Dr. Worth said. “I have a quote hanging in my office that reads ‘I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.’” Dr. Worth has worked in education for 27 years in both Greene and Henry counties.
She moved to the lake area in 1998 and began teaching at F.T. Corry School. Throughout 9 years teaching fourth and fifth graders at Greensboro Elementary School, Dr. Worth coordinated after-school programs, science fairs and career days, along with coaching basketball and directing the student golf club. Dr. Worth joined the Lake Oconee Academy team in 2008, where she taught Spanish and science in grades PreK-3rd, as well as all academic content areas in grades 5-7, before becoming LOA’s Upper School Director in 2014. Responsible for all operations of the upper school program, she oversaw teacher and student development, as well as daily operations such as academic scheduling and school safety. She also fostered community involvement in the school by facilitating a mentoring program with local volunteers and tutors. Most recently, Dr. Worth served as LOA’s Chief Academic Officer, overseeing all educational programming for the school during the 2020-2021 year.
“We are happy to have Dr. Jody Worth back serving our students as GCPS assistant principal,” said Dr. Chris Houston, GCSS Superintendent. “Her dedication to helping provide opportunities to our students can be seen throughout her career and in her work with children outside the educational setting.” Dr. Worth received her Bachelor’s degree from Clayton State University in 1997, Master’s and Specialist degrees from Piedmont University in 2001 and 2011, and a Doctorate degree in Teacher Leadership from Kennesaw State University in 2018. Outside of school, Dr. Worth enjoys being outdoors, whether that is working in her garden, going for walks, or just relaxing on the dock. She resides with her husband and two sons in the Liberty Community.
